Directly oversees multiple high-performing engineering teams and workstreams focusing on direct-to-consumer products that will be loved by thousands/millions of users. Provides leadership and direction to Hana technology and digital products and their feature development process. Develops engineering strategies and roadmaps, ensures that operational compliance is well managed and meets service-level standards. Drive innovation, engineering excellence and efficiency, and takes fully responsibility of impact on every engineering dollar spent. Serves as liaison to business units as needed. Participates in the sales pursuit process as needed.


  • Play a critical tech leadership role in Hana’s mission with helping people with purpose accomplish great things.

  • Lead and own the digital product & technical vision for the team while working closely with product, business and engineering leadership on a regular basis.

  • Provide management and leadership oversight to multiple teams and workstreams. Proactively empower and support engineering teams to ensure the teams have everything they need to run as lean startup units.

  • Promote transparency and open-communication, foster lean startup/data driven culture. Educate and encourage the teams to take managed risks and learn from them.

  • Maintains professional contacts with other organizations, research institutions, service providers, and software or equipment manufacturers concerning support and lifecycle management. 

  • Directs the continuing review of present systems and methods, as well as the formulation of new and revised systems; determines appropriate changes to effect improvements, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency.

  • Plans, implements, and controls multiple digital & technology projects. Ensures that project plans are executed within cost and time constraints. Reports project performance and status to upper management. Involved in contract and pricing negotiations. 

  • Works with the business and other technology partners to discuss and understand the implications of digital & technology initiatives for their department.

  • Keeps abreast of technological changes and innovations in the information systems field. Responsible for controls and governance of technology platform as well as ownership of policies and procedures and audit engagements.

  • Assists with sales pursuits as needed, to help pursuit teams understand technology offerings, options, and risks/costs.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • Significant track record leading high-performing engineers, teams on the product development in a lean startup/enterprise, agile environment.

  • 5 years of non-managerial technical experience, including mastery of at least one coding language, in-depth knowledge of the software development lifecycle, and familiarity with project management and testing methodologies.

  • 5 years of experience as an engineering manager with good track record on building and growing high-performing engineering teams.

  • 7 years of experience collaborating with various teams such as business strategies, product management, technical project management, data engineering, sales and finance.

  • Passionate about modern web and mobile technologies, strong understanding of best practices and challenges in cross-platform product development, have in-depth understanding of how to build engineering teams to deliver operational excellence.

  • Familiar with digital marketing, sales processes and flows, and the implementation details of a successful digital platform for direct-to-consumer products.


  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university and a minimum of eight to twelve years of related experience and/or training, including five years of experience at the management level.

  • Significant experience of leading lean startup teams within a large enterprise environment is a big plus.
