JOB SUMMARY

The Senior. Manager Tax Accounting will assist VP Tax Accounting with overseeing and managing the day-to-day tax accounting function which will include computation of CBRE’s consolidated global tax accounts, reviewing technical tax accounting matters, reviewing and upgrading various controls and processes in the tax accounting area. The Sr. Manager will interface extensively with cross-functional groups within and outside the tax department. This position will assist with transformation of CBRE Tax Accounting function.

CBRE has tax department staff split between two locations, Los Angeles and Philadelphia, and this position will be instrumental in facilitating communication between both locales. This position will be based in Dallas and will have regular interaction with the tax resources in Philadelphia and Los Angeles.

Manages domestic and international tax compliance functions, tax provisions and cash tax projections. Supervises tax staff and coordinates with outside consultants, partnerships and foreign regional controllers.

The Senior Tax Manager’s daily functions will consist of working in the area of Domestic Tax (50%) and International Tax (50%). Also he/she can expect to spend their time dedicated to the area(s) of Technical Tax Accounting Matters & Sox (30%), Day to Day Tax Accounting Matters (50%), and Tax Accounting Process Enhancements (20%).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages the country tax filings for the international entities including analyzing, updating and distributing of the global tax packages.

Manages the quarterly and annual global tax provisions.

Communicates with and assists foreign regional controllers on tax matters.

Supervises tax staff including performance evaluations and training.

Coordinates projects in the preparation of tax forms and partnership returns with outside consultants.

Manages the domestic tax compliance functions including the review of all complex tax returns.

Updates and maintains the domestic and international organizational charts.

Manages the cash tax projections.

Manages special projects including tax audits and research.

Addresses inquiries from outside partners regarding the information reported on their tax related documents.

Provides analysis and tax calculations to various internal attorneys, accountants, and development executives as requested.

Other duties may be assigned.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages a work unit and/or group. Responsible for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching, and motivating direct reports. Responsible for hiring, terminating, compensation, and performance evaluation.



QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE  

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university and a minimum of six to eight years of related experience and/or training.

12+ years of tax accounting experience, within a large multinational company, Big 4 public accounting firm.

Significant experience with tax accounting software, experience working with OneSource Tax Provision software is preferred.

Experience leading the consolidation of a global tax provision OR leading the audit of a complex multinational company’s tax provision process.

Significant experience with complex technical tax accounting matters highly preferred.  

Significant tax accounting experience in a complex, growing, and evolving company profile highly preferred.

Significant experience working in a heavy merger and acquisition environment preferred.

Willingness to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization, especially key partners within the Controllers, Corporate Accounting, and other finance functions.


CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES  

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.


COMMUNICATION SKILLS  

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.


FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE  

Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.


REASONING ABILITY  

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.
